Laura Winter Falk newly accredited by Court of Master Sommeliers
(03/14/2016) Ithaca, NY – Laura Winter Falk, the president and co-owner of Experience! The Finger Lakes in Ithaca, NY has become a Certified Sommelier. The certification is given by the Court of Master Sommeliers after taking classes and passing the level 2 Certified Sommelier Examination. Winter Falk already holds a doctorate in nutrition education from Cornell University.
Additional tours and services focusing on high end experiences will be added to the already diverse offerings by Experience! The Finger Lakes as a result of this certification. Current services include culinary wine tours, wine pairing events and more. Winter Falk looks to grow Experience! The Finger Lakes’ wine pairing events program and conduct more events with partnering restaurants, wineries and other Finger Lakes business. These events will showcase all the Finger Lakes culinary bounty has to offer, including farm-based foods, crafted products and the wine and other artisanally crafted beverages this region is known for.
“As a certified sommelier, I will show off Finger Lakes wines and other artisanally-crafted beverages within the context of its place in the world during our tours and pairing events,” said Laura Winter Falk. “The Finger Lakes feature great quality beverages and food; as a Finger Lakes sommelier I look to enrich people’s eating and drinking experiences through sharing of knowledge about wine and food within the context of exceptional service.”
Recognition as a Certified Sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers distinguishes an individual as proficient in service skills and as having an understanding of wine, beer, spirits and cocktails. Classes and examinations are given by the Court of Master Sommeliers at the New York State Wine and Culinary Center in Canandaigua.
