Since expanding to the Ithaca area less than a year ago, Journey Fitness Coaching has been making a significant impact in the lives of the members it serves. Located at 15 Catherwood rd. in the village of Lansing, Journey Fitness delivers life transforming group personal training to its members. By putting an emphasis on the coaching aspect, Journey Fitness is successfully helping its members to lose weight, get off medications, and feel better!  They even reference themselves as a personal coaching center rather than just a gym.

Leading the charge in the Journey Fitness Ithaca location is the Director of Success, Jesse King CSCS. Jesse is a certified strength and conditioning coach with a huge passion for helping others achieve their fitness goals. He’s served as the facility Director since opening in October 15.

What’s it like to be a member of Journey Fitness and have a personal coach? Ask Tim and Kelly, two Journey Fitness members who celebrated a major milestone at Journey Fitness this past July. Tim and Kelly were inducted into the Journey Fitness Wall of Fame for achieving their long term goals. Since joining Journey Fitness Tim and Kelly have combine to lose over 70 pounds, reduced their body fat percentage by 15%, lost multiple inches, and both claim to be in the best shape they’ve been in a long time. The best part of all, they did it together!

Tim and Kelly have this to say about their experience here at Journey Fitness Coaching in Ithaca.

Tim: “Before Journey Fitness I smoked, ate everything, and I was frequently tired. I would stop to catch my breath after one flight of stairs. Also, I always had pain in my joints and back. While learning to eat healthy the folks at Journey Fitness helped teach me how to keep a food journal. The most enjoyable part of Journey Fitness is having a coach by your side pushing you in a fun and easy manner, all while working very hard. Since joining Journey I have more energy, I look great, and I feel great. I can now run up sets of stairs without stopping. I no longer have pain in my joints or my back!”

Kelly: Prior to Journey Fitness due to medical conditions I gained 30lbs in 3 months. I have battled weight loss for the past 21 years. I would only lose 1-2lbs per year. At Journey, we focused on keeping our food journals and eating healthy. We switched our focus to daily carb intake instead of calorie intake. The support and encouragement from other members is the key to success. Now I feel more confident and love when people compliment my weight loss. My doctor removed obese from my chart and I fit into smaller clothes. It truly is a lifestyle change and I am in the best shape of my life! We keep each other accountable!

Says King, “I couldn’t be more proud of these two. Tim and Kelly are an inspiration. They demonstrate what a difference you can make in your life when you take action. Far too often people only decide they want to get in shape. They hesitate to action and get actively involved a fitness program. It has to be the right time, they’re too busy, or they’re not quite ready. At Journey Fitness, we often consult with our members during weekly goal setting sessions, reminding them that you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great. Tim and Kelly did just that. They said enough was enough, I’m tired of feeling the way I am and I’m going to do something about it. We’re going to take action. They started their Journey, and it’s been a pleasure working with them every step of the way.”
